STORY ABOUT THE ROMAN KINGDOM IN THE TALE OF THE THREE CAPTURES OF JERUSALEM

The article is devoted to a selection of quotations from the Chronicles of John Malala and George Amartol in the Tale of the Three Captures of Jerusalem, on which its history of Ancient Rome Empire (“about Roman Kingdom”) up to Emperor Octavian Augustus is based. Following V. I. Sreznevsky and V. M. Istrin, who noted the similarity of this story with the Ellinskiy Letopisec of the 2nd edition, this work contains its textual comparison with analogues in all Old Russiŕn chronographs known today. As a result, it is concluded that the author of the Tale of the Three Captures of Jerusalem used a certain chronograph that is similar to the so-called Chronograph po Velikomu izlozheniyu of the 2nd or 3nd type. It has been noted that the reflections of this chronographic source in the monument require further research.
